About Syllabix

For the part of teaching that happens after the lesson

Syllabix makes assessment and reporting toolkits for NSW primary teachers. The first range is written for the new Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) K–6 Syllabus (2024), starting with Stage 3.

Why Syllabix exists

From 2027, NSW primary schools teach HSIE to a new set of outcomes. For most schools, that means rebuilding assessment from scratch: new tasks, new rubrics, new work samples, new tracking and new report comments.

There are plenty of resources for teaching a unit. There are far fewer for what comes after the lesson: judging student work consistently, recording it in a way that holds up at moderation, and turning it into reports. That’s the work that takes longest to do well, and it’s the work Syllabix focuses on.

What’s in every toolkit

Each toolkit takes one assessment task through the whole cycle:

  • a snapshot of where students are starting
  • learning goals written for students
  • the full task, with a supported version and an extension version
  • a rubric with annotated work samples
  • a marking guide that points out the most common errors
  • report comments and a class tracking workbook

Everything comes as editable Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, plus print-ready PDFs.

How each toolkit is made and checked

Checked against the syllabus

Every outcome code and term is checked against the current NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus before release. No syllabus text is copied.

Written by a teacher

Developed by a qualified NSW primary school teacher, with the marking pile and the reporting deadline in mind.

Errors fixed promptly

Report an error and it will be fixed. The corrected version is free to everyone who bought the toolkit.

Kept current

When the syllabus changes, the toolkits are updated, free for the life of the syllabus.

Fewer resources, built properly

Syllabix grows one learning area and one stage at a time. Each toolkit is built thoroughly rather than quickly, so the range stays small, current and worth the time it saves you.

See it before you buy

The free Stage 3 History sampler has real pages from a toolkit: the rubric, a marked work sample and report comment starters.
